Up for sale is a stunning antique English portrait of a young man carrying wheat with more men following suit in the background. This work is resting in its original gold wood frame and has some pencil writing on the reverse. Verso states this painting used to reside to "Mr & Mrs D.R." of Morrell Oxford, then it is dated "November 1868" then further down indicates that this painting rested between both bookcases. This painting is dated 1868 so the painting is at least from that year, it could easily predate this by a number of years.

This work is executed in oil on artist board and was done by a very talented hand. The quality of the brush work is outstanding with fine detail which can be well seen in the face and clothes of this young man. Unfortunately this is unsigned and unattributed but nonetheless is a superb antique English painting. The overall condition is excellent with some craquelure, light bowing of the board, small scratch lower left and a hint of gold color in the top left level to the top of his hat. The frame also shows some cosmetic imperfection.
