Hood powerfully rises in the center of the painting draped in snow and cast in delicate purple lighting that darkens to purple nearer its base. The foreground shows an open field with green vegetation dotted with trees while a river is just barely visible in the distance. Signed low left, this painting is worked in oil on canvas measuring 20 x 25 inches while its attractive wood frame measures 24 x 29 inches. Composed of tremendous color, brushwork and composition creates one of the finest Mt. Hood depictions I have seen from the painter. The condition shows surface dirt / discolored varnish, craquelure and light wear to its frame.
