William Hough is known best for his superb still life fruit oil paintings such as this example shows. Measuring significantly larger than others currently available for sale on the market at 15 x 11 inches the contemporary gold wood frame measures 20 x 16 inches. This phenomenally painted 19th century English still life shows peaches and plums both still on the branch and in a hand wove wicker basket. Signed lower left "W. Hough" the name has slightly faded over time but is still legible as seen photographed. The back side of the painting appears to have possibly been used by the artist as it seems to have a white wash but never used. Small illegible writing is present on the back and the artists name written in ink. The condition of the work is pristine showing little to no imperfection or damage. The overall quality and level of execution is of the highest standard and with its bright colors looks tremendous when hung.
