Up for sale is a phenomenal mid-century etching by the talented American printmaker and painter John Fenton. Base in Woodstock, New York. Fenton worked in a tremendous style in which he executed his many prints almost as a blend between surrealism and mannerism even with some works showcasing abstract qualities. This etching is quite rare being only from the small edition of 50, is entitled “Voyage” and shows a group of nine figures sitting in a boat being rowed across its surface. The composition is full and clustered in the foreground focusing almost entirely on the individuals and their facial expressions. The attention to detail and depiction of emotion from each face shows a masterful ability within the medium of etching and aquatint which is why he has more than 20 works in the Smithsonian’s collection. The condition of the print is superb, free from any visible imperfections while the silver metal frame does show some scuffing/scratches. The glass has been removed for safer shipping. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
