Up for sale is a tremendous original mixed media illustration by Irwin Hasen depicting his most famous created comic strip character Dondi. This rare painting is quite superior to all other examples when considering its large size measuring 28 1/2 x 22 1/2 inches and that it contains all of Dondi’s family as well as his two friends Baldy and Web and his faithful k-9 companion Queenie. This unframed work is inscribed low right “Best Wishes from DONDI and his family and Irwin Hasen” dated 1980 and is sold unframed. Executed in ink, watercolor and crayon the condition overall is good but does show original repairs in white ink seen just below Dondi’s right arm and to the low right edge of the sheet. The sheet shows some discoloration as well as edge wear.
