Up for sale is a gorgeous oil painting by the talented 19th century French painter Gregoire Isidore Flacheron depicting a rushing river with a small waterfall. A single lone figure stands almost highlighted upon a large rock at the rivers edge looking down onto the churning water. I particularly love the vegetation spurting up from the rock in the middle of the river showing a handful of different leafy plants. Executed in oil on canvas this rare painting is signed low right “Gre Flacheron” and was retailed by Findlay Galleries of Chicago as seen from its paper label verso. Measuring 16.5 x 22.5 inches the period gold wood frame measures 20.5 x 26.5 inches and is in excellent condition making this work ready to be hung and enjoyed. The canvas shows expected craquelure but has remained in fine condition over the past century and a half. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this rare painting by Gregoire Isidore Flacheron but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
