Up for sale is an exquisite and quite rare limited edition serigraph by the talented Cincinnati born American artist Charley Harper. Entitled “Pelican Pantry” this multi color serigraph is a beloved image from the artist and depicts a pelican with a mouth full of fish as a seagull swings by to steel a fish from its mouth. This work measures with its full margins 18 x 18 inches while the images measures 14 x 14 inches. Hand signed in pencil low right, C. Harper, the print is also numbered low left “577/1500”. The sheet shows its proper text along its bottom edge including its “RHC” blind stamp in the low left corner. Printed in 1982 this playful wildlife print is a rare example and in overall fine condition with the sheet showing some extremely minor waviness in the margin. This work is unframed and absolutely gorgeous as it is executed in Charles famous modernist style using bold solid colors with heavy geometric design. This description of the print is given by the artist;

he gall of some gulls! Catch this scenario: The brown pelican dives into a school of fish and comes up with a pouch full of protein; the laughing gull, hanging around for a heist, swipes some mullet for his gullet. Poor pelican—gulled again. Ha, ha, ha, laughs the laughing gull, who always leaves them laughing. Wouldn’t you think the plundered pelican would get wise to this pickpocketry? He’s not the biggest brain in the brine, but he has been through a lot of schools.” - Charley Harper
