Harry Bright is a well known and listed late 19th century British artist known for his incredibly accurate and lifelike depictions of birds. His works remain in many private collections and institutions around the world with his originals becoming more scarce. This original gouache and watercolor depicts a red breasted robin in winter looking at its own reflection. The level of detail is astounding with every feather distinguishable on its body. The gouache is nicely applied especially to the snow laden leaves and branches giving it some three dimensional texture. Signed in the lower right corner "HY Bright" the entire piece measures approximately 12 3/4 x 17 3/4 inches. The painting is executed on paper then laid down to a thin board which can be seen in the images, this is easily covered by matting when framed. The condition is fantastic with no visible wear or damage other than the darkening. This is an outstanding example of Harry Bright's work!
