Up for sale is a beautiful original woodblock entitled “Birds in Spring” or "Flying Around the Plum Tree" by the highly collected 20th-century Japanese printmaker Toshi Yoshida. Depicting two fine little blue birds resting and flying around a fully bloomed plum tree decorated with white flowers against a soft orange background makes an overall wonderfully pleasing image. The level of detail is tremendous from the tree’s bark and flowers to each feather being visible on the bird. Signed with the artists chop mark low left as well as in the margin low right this work dates to the late 1970’s and is part of a set of four. In absolutely fine condition this woodblock shows no signs of wear or damage but its frame does show scuffs, knicks, and acrylic shows some scratches. This is a fabulous woodblock by Toshi and is accurately represented with the provided photos but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
