Up for sale is an exceptionally rare painting by the accomplished female American painter Charlotte Wax. Depicting a gorgeous expressionist fruit still life against a background of blocked in melding colors. This is the only example I can locate by Charlotte that has ever been offered for sale making this an extremely exciting discovery of this talented female painter. The original paper label remains verso indicating the artist and titled as well as the original price of fifty dollars. Dating to the mid 20th century this painting is executed in oil on canvas measuring 20 x 25.75 inches while, what appears to be its original wood frame, measures 22 x 27.75 inches. The condition of the painting shows two small spots of flaked paint, minor planar distortion and its frame which shows flaking of repainted white. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this rare vintage painting by Charlotte Wax but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!

Born in Berkley, California in 1919 Charlotte graduated from George School in Bucks County, Pennsylvania then attended Swarthmore before studying painting in Paris. She later studied at Yale School of Fine Arts and the Cranbrook Academy of Art. She exhibited at the Carpenter Galleries at Dartmouth College as well as the Villa Montecarlo in Chapala alongside Charmin Schlossman, Ernesto Linares, Muriel Lytton Bernard and Dick Kitchin. Little is known about Charlotte and her works are unbelievably scarce, she was extremely talented as shown in the painting being offered.
