Up for sale is an exquisite original painting by the highly regarded 20th-century self-taught Alabama native folk artist Mose Tolliver. With countless works residing in museums around the world including The Smithsonian, Tolliver is one of the most celebrated folk artists of the last hundred years and deservedly so. With a fascinating but tragic history that finally led him to paint resulting from a debilitating injury, Mose worked with found objects ranging from scraps of wood to pieces of metal which he worked using house paints. This painting depicts the portrait of a man holding his arms out to his sides wearing all white with a bright red tie. The painting measures 27 x 16 inches and is executed on a found wood panel in house paint and is signed low center “MOSET”. The condition is very good but the painting does show natural original imperfections to the wood. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this fine Mose Tolliver painting but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
