Up for sale is an fantastically whimsical oil painting by the talented 20th century American printmaker and painter Charles Turzak. Know primarily for his modernist woodblock prints; original oil paintings such as this are quite scarce. Titled “On the way to Disney Land”, this work is executed on canvas stretched over masonite and was painted in the 1970’s. Featuring some of Disney’s most famous mascots like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck there are other characters from some of Walt’s earliest cartoon animations including “Flowers and Trees” part of the Silly Symphony (1931/2) and Toby Tortoise and Max Hare (1935). Turzak was from his earliest years a cartoonist and this composition showcases in addition his fantastic modernist design and color palette. This fun and colorful painting is quite large measuring 40 1/4 x 25 3/4 inches framed and is ready to be hung and enjoyed. Signed in the low right corner “Turzak” the condition of the painting is very good showing minimal signs of wear to the works surface while its frame shows some loss of paint.
