Kiyoshi Saito is considered a modern master of Japanese print making and since the mid 20th century Saito has been beloved by collectors and institutions around the world. Entitled "Maiko Kyoto B" this original woodblock was printed in 1959 and depicts the side profile of a Geisha in pink, blue and black dress. Signed in the lower right corner with his name fully written in ink, their is also his red chop mark present just above. Along the bottom margin is written in pencil the title "Maiko Kyoto (B), the edition number 94/100 and dated 1959. In overall phenomenal condition, this print has been dearly taken care of and preserved for the last 60 years. This is an extremely scarce print by Kiyoshi and was both self carved and self printed by the artist as seen verso. The images provided accurately represent the condition, quality and aesthetic beauty of this woodblock.
