Up for sale is a fabulous still life oil painting by the rare 20th century American female artist Frances Unterberg Silver. This still life depicts a wonderfully colorful pitcher sitting upon a table next to a bowl of fruit and an oil painting behind showing a rocky coastal scene. Executed on canvas measuring 16 x 20 inches the original wood frame measures 22 1/4 x 26 inches and looks great when hung on the wall. Frances Silver is noted as exhibiting works in female shows during the ’50s and ’60s but like many female artists of the 20th century were highly under-appreciated and never received their deserved recognition. Silver was part of multiple art clubs including Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club and Salmagundi Art Club part of the American Artists Professional League. Her talent for painting was clear from the quality of execution, brushwork, and interesting composition which helps this work to stand out from other still life examples. The condition of this extremely scarce painting while overall very good does show a very minor rip in the canvas, measuring .5 inch, located top right only needing an extremely small patch. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this still life from Frances Silver but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
