Up for sale is an exquisite commercially used illustration painting by one of my favorite American artists Elmer Boyd Smith. Executed at the turn of the century this image was used in Andy Adams’s 1904 Western genre book “A Texas Matchmaker” (page 122) published by Houghton Mifflin. A cowboy is seen on horseback talking with a man while his faithful dog sits beside. Two women chat on the front porch of the wood constructed building while men are seen riding bucking broncos in a corral in the distance. This painting is executed in watercolor and gouache on paper measuring 20 3/4 x 13 inches and is in overall fine condition showing expected toning for its age and mild toning predominantly at the top. The overall quality is outstanding and once framed will look tremendous on the wall. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this Elmer Boyd Smith illustration painting but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
