Vira Ludlow is a 20th century American impressionist painter who favored a strong impasto style. Her paintings contain very thick brushstrokes, bright color, and a great sense of energy. Vira has had a few pieces go through auction but for the most part their difficult to find. The majority are in private collections and or with the Ludlow family.

This oil on masonite is an absolute beauty, filled with lots of color and exciting energy which is very characteristic to her style. The matador is waiving his bright red flag just in time as the bull is charging his way. When viewing this painting tension builds as were almost able to feel the danger of the horns. This painting comes unframed and is in great condition only needing a light surface cleaning.
