Nestor Hippoyle Fruge was a self-trained American artist from Louisiana who has become a beloved and collected artist.
Born in Bayou LaFourche, Louisiana in 1914 he lived a full life able to complete many exhibitions and pieces during his near 100 year life. He painted many scenes of New York, Paris, Mexico, and his most beloved New Orleans. He was first being recognized for his works during the 1930's as a young 20 something year old all the way to his death. Fruge Operated the Academy of Art, New Orleans from 1949-1952. Since then has traveled and exhibited principally in Europe and Mexico with frequent periodic sojourns in New Orleans.

This original watercolor depicts the beautiful and iconic Brulatour Courtyard in New Orleans executed on torn edged arches paper measuring 11 1/4 x 15 inches while the black wood frame it rests in measures 17 1/2 x 21 1/2 inches. The condition of the watercolor is perfect with no notable damage and has been professionally framed and matted. The frame has some slight cosmetic wear.
