Born 1928 in the Grand Canyon State Don Ruffin became nationally recognized painter in the early 1970's after completing a portrait of Senator Barry Goldwater. Living in Arizona for his life Dons most appreciated and enjoyed works reflect the western imagery including portraits and landscapes. With a distinctive and attractive style Don's compositions consist of bright colors and heavy impasto technique with a brush and palette knife. Don became a contracted artist with La Galeria de Bella Artes of Phoenix Arizona of which this came from as seen with the original gallery label attached to the reverse.

This work is entitled "After Hours - Guadalajara" as seen on the hand written label on the reverse. Depicting a sleeping Mexican man wearing a sombrero leaning against a guitar in his hand with two empty wine bottles on the table shows Don's excellent style, color, and sophisticated use of brush and palette knife work.  The condition is absolutely mint with no damage or imperfections to the painting, this was purchased by the previous owner from La Galeria de Bella Artes in 1970 for the purchase price of $600 USD. It had since been well taken care of and enjoyed. Exemplifying every one of Don's artistic abilities and and beloved subject matter.
