Up for sale is a beautiful original oil painting by the West Coast based American artist Adrienne Sherman. Titled “The Bartered Bride” this work features an ancient black figure Greek double handled urn showing a horse drawn chariot with men participating in the activity of which the work is titled. At the top of the handles are blond haired heads of Io in relief and a classic geometric pattern adorns above and below the two scenes. The painting was retailed originally through Davidson Contemporary in Seattle, Washington for the sum of $2,800.00USD and framed by Sterling Framing as seen from the paper labels verso. The artist did sign the front of the painting is very small fine text located in the lower left recessed area of which the pot sits. She also signed, titled and dated the painting on the back side of the panel which the frame is cut open to show. The condition of the painting is good but has a couple of surface scuffs as shown in the photo provided, no paint removed or lost. Also, the frame shows some cosmetic imperfections / blemishes. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this fine original Adrienne Sherman oil painting but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
